The hotels along the beach in Eastbourne.

The Pier in Eastbourne. Eastbourne is known as "God's Waiting Room" (what an awful nickname) because of the high number of retirees. It's a gorgeous little town. At the end of the pier, there's a Burger King, a fish-n-chip stand, an arcade / gambling room, and a night club. At the very end, you can rent fishing poles.

Me in front of the palm trees in Eastbourne. It was kinda cool, but I took off my jacket just for the picture. I couldn't believe there were palm trees in England.

St Paul's Cathedral, in the process of having all the pollution cleaned off it (notice the contrasting white and nearly black).

Me and my new friend!

The pipers are announcing the arrival of the guard before the changing.

Here comes the old guard! The guard is changing. In the winter, they wear those coats with the fur hats to stay warm. The fur is bear fur from Canada!

L-R: Laura (my roommate), Selena and I are in front of Buckingham Palace, just before the changing of the guard. The Queen's not home. The Union Flag flies if she's not there, and the Queen's Insignia flies if she is there.

The Eye of England, built for the millennium. It's closed every January for maintenance, but I'm going to go on it once it reopens.

Me in front of Big Ben. It was a nice day for January, but I grabbed my sweater just after this photo was taken.

Big Ben ... Well, the bell inside is actually Big Ben. This is really just the clock tower of the House of Parliament. But I'm not about to walk to the top of that tower just to see the bell.

During the first week, there was a trip planned to Eastbourne's club, Atlantis, on student night. Atlantis is literally on the end of their pier. We were forewarned about the "British Men" and their forwardenss, but most of us hung out in a big group so it wasn't an issue. Laura, Juan, Selena, Doug, Kayla, me, Lisa.

Another shot in Atlantis. Pictured: Selena, Juan (top), Laura (half-hidden), Doug (top), Lisa, Lisa, Kayla, Justin, Me (back), Dennis (beside me), Caleigh.

Our Opening Ceremony "Wine and Cheese" the day before classes started. Bottom Row (L-R): Laura, Me, Erica, Andrea, Kayla. Top Row (L-R): Dave, Juan, Doug.

Our guided tour of the grounds by the gardener (John). Although it's winter, we still got an idea of the splendour of the gardens. In the picture (L-R): Lisa, Doug, Caleigh (back), Laura, John, Jeremy, Kevin.
