Pictures

Okay, so I finally figured out how to put the pictures from my camera onto my home computer. That took a while. So, hopefully by the end of today I will have 2 weeks worth of travelling posted on-line!

Good-bye Castle!

Venice, April 15 to 17

San Marco Square in Venice!

The Bridge of Sighs (Sospiros) in the rain!

Gondola Rides were too expensive for us, but these tourists got the works, accordian player included!

Rialto Bridge!

Murano, the island near Venice on which we resided. It's where most of the Venetian glass is actually made.

Florence: April 17 to 20

On our very first morning, as we headed out the Florence's many, many street markets, we ran into Dave and Megan from the castle. How fun!

Good-bye Venice!

The trip from Venice to Florence, accidentally in 1st class...

Florentine streets were gorgeous

Tuscany, the province which Florence is in, is gorgeous. I do wish I could've seen more of Tuscany.

Lemon trees in Florence!

Random fun! Running into Selena, Dave, Andrea and Doug in Florence, by complete coincidence!

Il Duomo in Florence

Gordon and Laura, in the Colliseum.

Rome: April 20 to 23

Welcome to Rome!

Wow, it's old.

A gladiator fighting the lion in the Colliseum!

The Forum in Rome! Where politics in Rome were once conducted ...

... and where brutal slayings occurred. Here is where Julius Caesar was killed over 2000 years ago.

Good Bye Colliseum!

Monumente Vittorio Emanuelle. He had this monument build for himself after he united Italy and kicked out the Vatican. Thought rather highly of himself.

The end of our sketchy night in Rome!

The Vatican! ... and me!

Due to the conclave ending just the day before, the Sistine Chapel was still closed. The new Pope was announced about 12 hours before we arrived in Rome! They, however, did post these lovely pictures of the Sistine Chapel. How thoughtful.

Trevi Fountain... It's packed, but no wonder. It's absolutely gorgeous.

It's said that if you throw 3 coins with your right hand over your left shoulder, you'll have good luck!

Piazza Novona, which I really liked. A little bit out of the way, but still charming.

Circo Massimo (Maximus's Circus), former track for gladiator races. And that "house" in the background was where Octavius Caesar once lived.

It's an English medieval castle ... beside an Egyptian pyramid. Where are we?

Good Bye Rome! Onto Vienna ... and Wade!

Vienna: April 23 to 25

I'm Strauss playing the violin! Vienna, and Austria in general, has had many famous composers and musicians, including Strauss, Mozart and Schubert.

Look, Wade's the saint of saws!

Vienna in springtime. A song, apparently.

WTF! Roman Ruins ... in Vienna?!

Globalisation ... in Vienna!

Viennese Dinner ... Mmm, Vienna Beer ...

WTF? Wade's beating up Spiderman in Vienna! Look out! Here comes the Spiderman!

Good-Bye Vienna! The Rathaus at night.

Prague: April 25 to 28

The view from the church tower of Prague Castle's church. They love roosters in Prague, though I don't know why.

Hello, Prague! The view from a hill outside the city-centre. Not only is there an historic area, but there is, off in the distance, a commercial area.

One of the few surviving Baroque churches in the world is here in Prague. It's very ornate, and much more interesting than the common Gothic churches.

A random plaza in Prague that I loved. Look at the Eastern Europe architecture! It's just gorgeous!

Carlov (Charles) V Bridge in Prague. Good Bye Prague! Onto my favourite city ... London!

London: April 28 to May 1

THIS is Piccadilly Circus! We got lost walking through SoHo to find this place, but we finally made it! Piccadilly Circus, not a circus but rather a market type area, had the world's first electronic sign. It's vibrant and alive at night, near London's west-end theatre district.

This is Westminster Abbey, where the Royals usually get married. Except for when they marry divorcees, then they get married in court.

Wade in front of ... well, Big Ben really needs no introduction.

Giddy up, Trafalgar's Lion!

The view from the bottom of the world's biggest ferris wheel, the London Eye ...

The Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. Just days later, Tony Blair was re-elected PM, and would have been led there in some weird ceremony involving new shoes, or something... Anyhoo, that's the capsule below ours, so you can see what the London Eye's "flight capsules" looked lik.
